I wrote a little thing earlier in the site’s first blog covering how I met Trey Dorff and his son Travis. Travis started with our team in December and the kid is just phenomenal. I personally couldn’t say enough about how kind, hard working and talented this 8….yes 8 year old kid is! Travis has been known for coming to the front from a rough start so in 2019 we are heavily working together to get the starts and reliability of the KTM 50’s on point. Check out a little more info on Travis from papa Dorff himself!
Travis Dorff was born April 11, 2011. This is where he got his number 411 from. Travis started riding dirt bikes at age 4 and received his first dirt bike on his 5th birthday. It was a red Yamaha PW50 with the number 5 on the front. Travis learned all the basics of riding such as putting his leg out when turning, elbows up and standing up in the church parking lot across from his house. Once he “outgrew” the church parking lot, Dad turned the back yard into a mini track for him and his friends!
Soon enough he was twisting the throttle wide open and re-gripping to try and squeeze more out of the bike. It didn’t take long for his family to realize this sport was his passion. Travis was ready for his PW to get a new top end so Dad tried a 60cc big bore kit to try and give it more power but Travis needed even more! So came the race ready KTM 50.
Once Travis got on the KTM everything changed. Travis was a force to be reckoned with who would do anything and everything to podium! He has had numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes but the spectators always notice Travis’ perseverance. Travis has been known to be dead last on lap one and come back to podium at the checkered flag. This sport has taught Travis how to push through adversity and never give up!
Off the track Travis excels in school and is constantly receiving awards for academics and behavior. Being a part of FCS Racing, Travis knows he is held to a higher standard for behavior and upholds that expectation willingly. He participates in the Jr. Safety Patrol program at his school where you have to be invited to be in the program based on behavior and attitude.
Winning the championship in the A class for the 19-20 race season is Travis’s new goal. In his spare time he will be practicing the clutch on his 65 for the 20-21 race season! His motto is “You win some, you learn some but you never lose.” -Travis & Trey Dorff
We hope you come out to the FTR series and learn more about our team and if you want to see some great racing check out the #411 in Pee Wee A and show Travis some love!
So many life lessons are learned when participating in this intense sport!
That’s why we do this. The lessons this young kid will learn will carry over into anything he sets to do later on in life!
These kids are so much fun to watch. I love their passion for the sport. Great article!
I remember the first race out there watching the pee wee’s. It is definitely a highlighted favorite of mine each race!
Amazing young man! His grandfather always is bragging about him.
Competition runs in the family. My grandfather had a saying that always stuck with me when I heard him say it at Travis’s age. He would say “Bobby, the best is none too good”. He was a successful businessman and owned his own business. I went on to pitch a no hitter in little league, score 54 points in one basketball game in high school and play full back on offense and middle line back on defense in Pop Warner Football. My musical career has been successful for 50 years and my work ethics have certainly been a strong influence on Jaci (Travis’s Mom). Trey has shown Travis how devotion and hard work will bring self confidence, focus, and the continued drive to better himself in anything he chooses to do in life. 5 Stars and 5 Thumbs way up for Team Travis….
