Consistency

For many new riders this is a hard lesson to be learned.

I rode my first season of FTR last year and in the first race I thought I would come out of the gate screaming.  I crashed in the first 7 minutes and broke 2 bones and many other minor injuries leading to long recovery and heavy mindset change.   As I went through the first season of racing I had several folks who were a not so positive influence.  People who voice their opinions heavily based on their own predictions.  I would say heavily guard yourself as to what influences you and keep in mind where your goals are and what defines those goals.  Lets dive into a perspective of FCS Racing Rider Jacob Berard, 17 year old Jr A Class Champion and see what his opinion on thought process in the race season is……..

Jacob B- From when I first started riding to now I have learned a lot of the tips and tricks to racing. For me the most impactful thing so far while racing is consistency. I have noticed that whether the rider is winning races or not, consistency will always put you in a good spot for year end awards. Focusing on the little things and taking one problem at a time on the track helps me be consistent at the races. It took me 7 seasons to win my first championship but every other Season has been a podium and I can say consistency was a big part in that. Stay fast my fellow racers.

Take it from a 7 season racer and a top rider to contend with, your mental patience and influence is something to safeguard.  Don’t let yourself be overwhelmed and stay focused on your goals!
